My advice to women shopping on a strict budget or those who are just beginning to use a capsule wardrobe is to invest in good quality pieces, that you absolutely love and that you can be worn in many different ways. One of those pieces for me is this cardigan/sweater dress. I love everything about it: the length, the chunky knit, the color, the dramatic sleeves, the tortoiseshell buttons…everything! I can wear it for date night, to work, running errands, out to dinner with friends and still never tire of it. This was one of the 5 clothing items I purchased last year during the months of October-December and I’m so glad I did. It’s versatility and warmth is something I hope to take advantage of in fall seasons to come. I enjoy making new outfits from the items I already have in my closet and encourage you to get creative with what you already have! You’ll be surprised at what you come up with.
1. A Twist on a Classic Jeans and a white tee never go out of style. Adding something unexpected, like this oversized cardigan elevates the entire look.
2. With a dress! Layering is key in the colder months and this is a simple way to get more wear out of your favorite dresses. If you have a shorter dress you want to wear you can add tights or a pair of warm boots.
3. Button it up and add over the knee boots Over the knee boots have been everywhere the past few years. I swoon over a cute sweater dress paired with boots every time. This look is perfect for a night out with your friends or partner.
4. All Black This is a simple way to look chic when you have minimal time to get ready. I paired a black bodysuit with my favorite pair of faux leather leggings and felt extra cute! Add a red lip and this combination would be complete!
5. Belt it! Belting a dress never fails to add that extra pizazz and polish. I would suggest doing this if you have a sweater dress that is a bit looser and you want it to be a bit more form fitting.
I hope this gives you some ideas and is the catalyst for a weekend of wardrobe exploration. Have fun getting dressed!
